Statement on Senate Republican Filibuster Tactics

As Senate Republicans consider changing long-standing procedure and precedent to jam through Neil Gorsuch’s nomination, Constitutional Responsibility Project Communications Director Josh Dorner issued following statement:

“It’s now clear that Neil Gorsuch has not earned the 60 votes he needs. After ignoring their constitutional responsibilities for more than a year by blockading the nomination of Judge Merrick Garland, refusing to give him a hearing or any vote, Senate Republicans are talking about a new partisan push to change the rules in the middle of the game just to get Trump’s judge confirmed. It’s time for a new nominee, not new rules.”
