CRP Statement on Senate GOP Breaking the Rules to Install Neil Gorsuch

After Senate Republicans upended two centuries of Senate rules and tradition to eliminate the 60-vote bar for Supreme Court nominees, Constitutional Responsibility Project Communications Director Josh Dorner released the following statement:

“The American people lost today because a judge who does not believe in protecting the constitutional rights and freedoms of all Americans was just handed a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court through a tainted process. Senate Republicans went to unprecedented lengths today to break the rules – and the Senate – in order to install Neil Gorsuch, whose deeply troubling views and record left him unable to earn the 60 votes he needed. The fallout from today’s shameful actions will be far reaching, both for the American people and for Senate Republicans.”
